Fluff, Not Fat.....

I see my girls as fluffy.....my older son moos at Sassy when he sees her. I'm not amused. I think they are not at all fat, especially Sassy, who is long haired.
Both kitties are well fed, but not "fat", so I was more than surprised when I read the vet's report on Cammy. It said, "Overweight Female, with healthy coat and tarter free teeth.....
I am hearing that little girl's voice on Full House...."How Rude!!!"  Cammy agrees!
I have been quilting up a storm on the baby 9 patch.
I set a goal of a minimum of 2 blocks a day, but am trying to do more like 4.....
Once I reach my goal, I can work on some of my own projects.
I actually finished the quilting on this little, Simply Charming, 9 patch, but still need to bind it. I'll do that tomorrow. I am starting the blocks for my Secret Sister quilt tomorrow too, so more machine work.
And since, I don't want my own medical record to match Chamomile's, I have been eating a lot of salads, and I found these toppings that really make them wonderful!!!
I cut up some Gala apple too, and it tasted so good! I think I will try the Honey Almonds next time!
Have a blessed Lord's Day!!!

Hello Notions Nook!!!

I found the new-to-me quilt shop today. It is not too far from home (closer than the other shops in town), and was quite LOVELY. The Notion Nook will be seeing a lot of me! There are walls of 1800 repos, 1930's repos, Primitive Gatherings, and more Moda than you can imagine! (click on the link, cause she has online shopping too) I did not see any hand quilting notions, so I asked the lady behind the counter if she carried any. Cay introduced herself as the owner, and led me directly to a peg holding Dritz quilting betweens. UGH....they suck. Just my opinion. I told her I was looking for a place that carried thread, batting, and needles that were hand quilter friendly. She apologized and said she had not had a need for those items, but had been trying to get a hand quilting class going so she could broaden out into that arena. I told her that I had been teaching for Acorn for the last 4 years, and before I could get another word out, she ran and got a pad of paper and a pen and said, "What do you need in the store, and can you teach classes here?" So long story short, she is ordering all my favorite hand quilting notions and I have a class in June!! I did not come home without sampling her wares! I got the bumper stickers shown above, and some darling Moda packs (a 5" and two 2 1/2") that will be perfect for the Simply Charming quilts.
I also grabbed a stack of Civil War Repo fat quarters. I love them!! They are so gorgeous!
Cammy was very interested in what was coming out of that bag!
Don't worry....we don't eat on those placemats ;)
Yesterday my WW friends, Carol and Melody, came over so we could baste Carol's "queen" sized quilt. I say "queen" cause it was NOT queen!! It was bigger than KING! We had to piece an 8 inch wide strip onto the 120x120 bat. Luckily she had another one in the car!
Carol (in the lime green) pieced together blocks that her 80-something year old mother embroidered. The 16" blocks are gorgeous!!!
She used the perfect fabrics to sash them!
4 hours later (that includes a break to eat a wonderful salad Carol brought) the quilt was ready for the hoop.
Now back to today...I am flip flopping LOL....I spent the day with my mom shopping for wall decor to match her new couch. I love what we came up with!!
So pretty!!! That couch is BIG! While we were at Old Time Pottery,  I found this metal star that I knew would look good on the small wall in my eating area.
It's all textured, which doesn't show in the picture, and looks like it was made for that spot!
That's all for now. I am going back to Mom's for the morning tomorrow, and then grocery shopping. The rest of the week should be very relaxed. We are expecting sunny days and climbing temps....and Friday brings grandkids!!!! YAY!!!!

Good-Bye to Acorn Quilts

Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers for Cammy. She seems to be back to her old self. I am praying it remains that way and we don't have cycles of this issue.
It has been a beautifully sunny day today. It was much needed!! Today, I packed up all my supplies and headed off to teach hand quilting at Acorn Quilt Shop.
Sadly, Acorn is closing the end of May, so this was my last class. I have been teaching there for 4 years now, since she first opened the shop. She is closing the doors for a month and then reopening as a vintage shop. I will sure miss my trips to that shop.
I am blessed to live in a city that has several quilt shops, though none 1/2 a mile from my house! ;) I heard of a new one I did not know about today, so on Tuesday, I will be headed that way. I hear they have lots of Civil War repos...my absolute favorite kinds of fabrics!
I didn't leave empty handed today. I got several yards of fabric, and a new rotary cutter.
My rotary cutter is about 15 years old, and as I am cutting with it, the whole thing falls apart!! Not a good thing. I bought the exact same kind, cause I think 15 years is a long life.
I spent yesterday basting my Simply Charming mini and the baby quilt. I love the backing for this cute little boy quilt.
I also have this pile of "stuff" next to my chair. My calendar, bill folder, and all the score keys for Charlotte's school books sit in a pile that ends up looking unsightly. I found this wonderful wooden box downstairs. I use to fill it with pine cones and set it on the fireplace.
Everything nice and neat! As you can see, my Simply Charming book arrived yesterday! Oh the wonderful quilts in that book! It will be difficult to choose which one to make next!
Looking forward to a very productive week. I hope the same for you!

Chamomile

Poor Cammy is sick. It seems she may have Interstitial Cystitis. We are praying it is just a UTI. Her Vet feels it is unlikely. She was so scared when she had to go in for an ultrasound and urine culture.
When they were done with her, (she had an ultrasound of her bladder and kidneys, no urine draw as her bladder was too little, and she got a pain shot and a shot of antibiotics), she climbed my body and wrapped her arms around my neck, hanging on for dear life! She is in the litter box often only passing tiny bits, and sometimes there is blood :(  She is on pain meds every 8 hours. We may have to make some lifestyle changes for her (stress is the cause, though I can't image how she is stressed) and a prescription diet. Prayerfully, it is not this horrible bladder disease. I hate to see any animal in pain. I would appreciate some prayers for her. She is a much loved member of our family.

Outside My Sewing Room Window

It is raining for the umpteenth day in a row. I am getting the blues!!!! What a perfect day to work with blue fabric!
I joined in on the Simply Charming Sew Along that Kathy and Darlene are hosting.
I am behind so I need to catch up. My book has not even arrived, but that won't stop me! I am starting with Nellie's Nine Patch, which is self explanatory. They are the cutest little 3 inch 9 patches!
So feeling "blue" isn't all bad!
We had a great weekend with the grandkids. Emerson and I did some nail therapy....
All her favorite colors, cause she is a rainbow kinda girl!
Papa and I took TJ for his birthday lunch. He chose Steak and Shake for ONE reason.....
The crane game!!!!! He loves that thing!
After several dollars, he was in disbelief that he had nothing to show for it!
It's rigged, he is certain! LOL
I am heading back to the sewing room to finish that little mini with all those cute little blue squares. The girls are spending their rainy day in different ways. Sassy is watching the rain fall,
while Cammy decided to crawl into Kyle's bed and sleep through it all!
If I had my choice, I would have chosen Cammy's way!
Til next time!

Stencil Fun!

Thankfully Charlotte loves to cook, cause I have some sewing to do!!! I did get the borders on the 9 patch baby quilt.
It is bright and cheerful. Every quilting line needs to be marked! What a drag!
It should quilt up fast....I love this little motif!
I still have 6 more 9 patches to mark, and then I will piece the backing and get it basted and in the hoop. I won't get to the basting til Monday, cause I have visitors this weekend.
Emerson made these flowers using a quilting stencil. So sweet!!! And this guy.....
.....he was so excited to see his uncle! He was in the hospital over night last week with pneumonia. Poor little man! :( He is fine now, except for a little bit of a left over cough.
This is an older pic, but it looks exactly like my table tonight....coffee and cats as I hand quilt in my chair.
I closed my facebook account....I was facebook hooked and decided to let it go. I got SO much done today!! ;) So if you were friends with me on facebook, I may or may not come back in the future. Does anyone else find themselves consumed by it?

Some Quilting Chatter

It was an amazing Tuesday!!! I had a much needed break from life and was able to go back to my hometown and meet my best friend for lunch. My mom, Melody (my WW friend), and I met Sue (her blog is Quilting Chatter) at the Village Squire for a 3 hour lunch! It was so wonderful, I could not believe it was time to go so soon!
Not a great pic of us, with all the shadows and puffy eyes, but you get the idea. (it looks like we both have food on our chins, but we don't...I promise LOL) I miss her so much and though we email each other everyday, many times a day, it is not the same!!! With the weather getting nicer, I will need to make more trips up that way.
I got the next baby quilt started.....
I will add borders tomorrow and get it marked too....basting will probably take place on Thursday. In the meantime, there is nothing in the hoop, and that will not work for me. I had my good ol stand-by here so I put it back  in the hoop.
Sassy was thrilled to see the UGRR Sampler come back out again! It is her favorite quilt EVER!
Cammy looked confused....she prefers the smaller quilts I have been working on.
I want to thank all of you who have prayed for my family over the years. Rita asked if I would share what is actually going on with Charlotte. We are dealing with the transition of Reactive Attachment Disorder in a child/young teen to Reactive Attachment Disorder in an older teen. If you look it up it will give you an idea of what we are battling. She has a more than moderate case and help is not so easily found. We keep trying though....someday we'll find it, I pray.
So I am heading for my own form of therapy this evening....my needle and thread. A great close to a great day!!!
Since Google Reader closed (though mine seems to still be working), I moved over to Bloglovin. It seems fine so far! I hate change!
