Life

There really hasn't been anything to blog about lately. Life has been slow. I haven't quilted much at all since Christmas, but that is the norm for me. The month of January is one of respite for me. Charlotte has been crocheting like crazy and has her blanket for her bed almost finished. Sassy climbs on it and kneads her paws in it at every opportunity!
We have been staying busy in the kitchen these days. Eating more unprocessed foods means more cooking. Today I made Challah bread (my cousin's recipe) and braided it. I had only braided bread one other time and it was an utter failure. That was 3 ropes...today I did 6. My first try was not half bad.Not as nice as I would have liked. I ended up with a braid that was much wider at one end than the other. It will be wider at the top, but not THAT much difference. I had pulled too much on the dough toward the end. All in all, for a first try it was not too bad. My second loaf was a success.Isn't that dough GORGEOUS??!!
They turned out beautiful and I plan to make these more often!
Dinner was Niki's homemade chili. (I am a great cook when I use other people's recipes! LOL)Look at those beautiful beans. I used 4 different kinds this time.So other than spending some extra time in the kitchen, life here has been at a snails pace. The future, however, will be quite different, but more on that another time.

Bren, it is great to see your blog post. I was beginning to worry about you. I know what you mean about slow quilting in Jan. Today is the first day I have worked on anything creative but redwork since Christmas. Your bread looks fabulous. I made chili on Tuesday using 3 beans. Turned out great. Yours looks delicious. Have a great weekend, my friend.

Such a treat to see the new and exciting things you come up with! Your quilts are beautiful, as always.

My heart goes out to you in regards to last year's heartbreak. Just know ya'll are in our prayers. <3

The bread turned out beautifully. We are eating more naturally also and yes, it seems I'm always in the kitchen.

How are you doing on the 100 Day Challenge?

Great job on the bread! It is beautiful.

I also cook everything from scratch and yes, it takes longer. You do learn some short cuts though.

Can't wait to read about your future plans.

Blessings

Hi Bren. :) I found your blog buried in my bookmarks. The bookmark was actually for your old blog and I followed that link over here. Not sure how I found your blog originally, but I'm glad I did! Your quilting is beautiful and has inspired me to get back to work on mine.

Also, that challah bread is gorgeous!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend!

So glad you checked in was wondering if you were ok. I always worry about my "everday read list" bloggers when they don't post for a while :)

There is something to be said, I believe, for those slot times in life. I appreciate them so much as they don't come around often in mine.

Your bread is AMAZING!! I mmade a Cahllah Braid for Christmas dinner and it was yummy and really pretty but it was only a three strand, not brave enough yet to attempt a 6. Good job.

Well enjoy you down time, I'm sure thigns will pick again soon enough.
