Life

It has been a full week so far. Mother's Day for me was wonderful. I got a beautiful card from my oldest son, that was tear jerking! Also, my daughter in law sent me a Mother's Day card. Kyle made me a card, and the kids were full of hugs and Happy Mother's Day wishes for me. Of course, Sweetheart had given me the quilt shop shopping spree in my last post for my gift. My mom and sister came for a cook out. I did not take one picture!! That is awful!! It was a sweet day.
Homeschool was in full force this week. Testing on Monday and all new books on Tuesday. I have lots of filing to do....I am waaaaay behind. Miss Organized.....NOT!Charlotte has decided to do extra pages each day in order to get done quicker. That is ok with me. She wants to spend her summer doing some catch up in math and spelling. Those are her 2 weakest subjects.Zach will spend his summer reading. That boy does not like to read! This week I got the Hidden Star basted. It took all day Monday and again, Tuesday morning to get it done. I took my time...lots of breaks. It kills my back!Of course, Sassy has claimed it as her own!I am just glad it is ready for the hoop. The miniature quilt for Rose Marie is very close to done. In fact, the Hidden Star will be in the hoop tonight!I did a bit of cutting too. TJ's sailboat quilt is going to be pieced next.I am sure when that happens, Sass will think that one is for her too. In the meantime, she decided to bed down on the folded up Hidden Star. I love that backing fabric!Look at the big ox! She can hardly fit!!!Well, that is the week so far. My mom and I are going to Anderson's Gardens for lunch tomorrow. I so look forward to it! Next week we are taking the kids there. It is cold and stormy here this week, so it won't be a perfect day to take the children. Click on the link and take a look. It is a beautiful place. I will try to remember to take my camera tomorrow. Until then....

That quilt is beautiful. I don't think I had seen it clearly just in bits and pieces. I don't think I've ever seen that pattern.

Where do you do your sandwiching and basting. I used my two work tables for the small quilts but I don't want to take everything off them to do a large one. I'd like to do it outside and use the spray basting to ensure the sandwich is secure. No matter what method I use, my back gives me fits.

Wonder Boy used to love reading but this past year or two it has been hard to get him to read any thing except fact books. That is why I was thrilled when he read my all time favorite children's book: A Wrinkle In Time. He enjoyed it and is going to read the sequels.

For his Birthday this month I found some books about history in fiction form at TJ Maxx. They are called the National Treasure collection. I hope he likes them.

I hate basting too, which is why I just toss in a few safety pins and call it good LOL. This is going to be such a pretty quilt!!
