Next plan....run that completely LOADED dishwasher. It was full to the brim. I reach under the sink for the dishwasher soap and there is NOTHING. Plan B for the dishes????
5 sink fulls later, all the dishes were washed, dried and put away. I actually enjoyed this process. The window over the sink was open. A soft, warm, breeze came through and the birds were singing a special concert just for me. No background noise in the house....just me, the birds, and the warm sudsy water. Plan B was not too bad after all.
So with everyone occupied outside and no one needing me, which sewing project would I do? I really need to get the Hidden Star pieced. I had no desire to do that. Plus, I reasoned, if I was downstairs tucked away, I could not keep an eye on the kids. I would continue working on the applique border of the Underground Railroad Sampler. It is on my goal list, so I told myself it was a good choice.
I needed to cut and prep more flowers, Each side of border will have 5 flowers. Each corner will have a cluster of flowers. I decided to complete one side of the border, or at least get it all set and a good jump on it. Sassy was a huge hindrance. She decided all my applique supplies looked like fun..JPG)
Finally I pulled the quilt top out and set it on the couch. INSTANTLY she claimed it for herself.
That gave me time to prep more flowers and centers. In between, I checked on the kids, who were riding bikes and playing out front. They also had a big blanket on the ground and Zach was playing his gameboy while Charlotte crocheted dish cloths. They even ate their lunch out on that blanket. I think the temp was 70 easily. All day long, not one fight or argument...not even one time of bickering! It really was a perfect day!
I got my flowers all prepped and was able to complete all 5. Now granted the base flowers were already there for 4 of them, but they all were so much fun to do.
While working on these I convinced myself that my son would not appreciate a new quilt in the middle of the summer......wouldn't a Christmas quilt be so much more loved? I plan to give his children quilts for Christmas, and giving him his at that time would be perfect.
It took me 4 flowers to talk myself into that new plan. I think it is a fine one. A tad on the selfish side, but if you are doing something you are loving, keep going! This quilt has been in the works for more than 4 years. My friend Coleen and I planned to make it together. She has a few blocks done, but could not complete it. I went ahead and made mine. Once I decided on the applique border, it got put aside. Why? It was waiting for the perfect time....I am so thrilled to have this kind of hand work right now.
I am enjoying this border so much I can't wait to get side 2 done! Today is suppose to be just as glorious. Maybe I can figure out a way to add some more flowers today. Laundry, and grocery shopping are on today's list. My grandchildren come tomorrow and I am over the moon to see them. We will do Easter morning on Saturday here so they can experience it with us. In the meantime, I will enjoy today as much as I did yesterday. Praying your day will be as blessed as mine!

I love these kinds of days. I know what you mean about putting something off because you're not in the mood for it. I think when that happens it is part of God's plan. He has a lesson for us for another place and time. For instance, I bought the book for the Bible study last Spring to do on my own. I started it and got to the 2nd days homework then put it aside. Our class did a study by Anne Graham Lotz in the Fall. It was a short one so they had to choose another one to do this Spring. They chose the Discerning one by Priscilla. Since I had the book, I just know this is the time, God wanted me to do this study.
Its the same with other things. We thing we know when we're supposed to do things but God's timing isn't ours.
I'm so glad you're enjoying this time with your project. Enjoy these next few days with your family.
Have a blessed Easter,
Mama Bear
What a wonderful day!!! And 70*?!?!? We're cold here again, with several winter-type storms moving through the area. I know our spring will return soon. Enjoy the spring weather you're having.
Today is lovely, sunny and warm, and such a blessing. I enjoyed seeing the crock pot cooking as I have tonight's dinner cooking in two crock pots; one holds pork chops and the other potatoes and green beans. The aromas of the cooking food are so nice. And the fact that I don't have to start dinner later, most of the work is already done. I love seeing your quilts, I don't know how you do it, but you surely do a lot of hand quilting. It's wonderful. Congrats on starting a new blog too, I'm glad to have *found* you.
Hugs
What a perfect day for you, Bren. And now you will have the gr-kids to enjoy ... That quilt is gorgeous & Sass has given her approval already, chuckle!
We had our 3 kid-lings for 3 wonderful days ... we treasure every moment with them. We celebrated & had our egg hunt before they left.
Happy Easter!

Bren, I am glad you had such a wonderful day. April could not have come in any better for us. It was 80* here today. I know from experience how much cats love my quilting supplies. I have learned to keep my ears opened for the sound of a spool of thread or thimble being batted across the room. LOL I try to keep my pin cushion hidden, cause I sure wouldn't want one of my babies to get hurt. Love all the pictures of Sass and the quilts. I just knew you needed a kitty. (grin) Winona
What a lovely day you had Bren!! The days it was 65+, I was working Bummer LOL.

I just love your posts with sassy. Since we got our kittens at about the same time it is fun to see. Sadie is our kitten well cat now and she too places herself in some interesting places and plays with my sewing yesterday as I finished the easter dress for Little Princess and a skirt for myself she was playing with the interfacing, the ribbon for the dress and any random string that went her way lol... Blessings to you and yours tlak to ya soon!
