A Day With My Mom

One of the biggest blessings in my life is my mother. I spend every Thursday with her....just the two of us. This week we went on our day out a day early. Mom had an appointment bright and early to get an injection in her hand. That is gonna hurt!!! My mother is ALWAYS there for me when I need her. She goes to appointments with me where I endure a horrifically painful procedure every 3-4 months and holds my hand and tells me things like, "You're doing great. Just breath, Honey. It's almost over." I keep her as my focus and do exactly what she tells me. I adore her for it!! I HAD to go with her this morning and do the same for her. An ultrasound showed exactly where the injection needed to be.
Now before I tell you what happens next, I want to remind you of what a sweet lady my mother "looks" like. Sweet, huh? Well let me tell you....she turned into a total WITCH when that needle went in. I did all the right things. I told her "You're doing great, Mom. Breath deep.....let it out. It's almost done....you are doing so good!" She turned on me like a spinning top! "OH SHUT UP", is what she said to me!!! Along with some words that can not be blogged. I know it hurt....I KNOW it did. I felt so bad for her....not bad enough to keep me from getting even though......Her ordeal over, we were on our way.
I carried mom's wallet in my purse ALL day....why???? Here is the purse she came with today....Purple and black snake skin "plether". I told her it HAD to go. It looked like a street walkers purse!!!! LOL She finally agreed to get rid of it. We stopped at McD's for breakfast....we were too hungry to care!Next stop....Hilander, to do ALL the Thanksgiving shopping, plus the weeks worth of groceries for my house and close to same for her house.
Of course everybody and their brother was at the Hilander today! Once we got our bird and all the fixings, we headed home to unload.
Oh...and remember I told you Mom decided to get rid of that hideous purse????
OH YES SHE DID!!!! She gave it to my daughter who loves all things gawdy! How can I ever repay her?????MmmmHmmmmm.
We grabbed Kyle, who had a doctors appointment at 2, took all mom's groceries to her house and unloaded and then went to lunch. Kyle chose Pizza Hut. UGH! When we walked in this is what we saw....That's right. Not a soul. At 12:30. No one. It smell like old pee in there....seriously. Still we stayed and ate and not one person came or went the entire time we were there. Kyle was happy though.Kyle's doctor's appointment brought more appointments with specialists....his platelet count is mildly low, probably from medications, but they want him to see a hematologist...prayers are appreciated.
Finally we made it home at 4:00. Whew! What a day...but for me it was just starting. I had pies to bake, fruit salad to cut up, spinach dip to mix, and celery and onions to saute. I am cooking for 25-30 people tomorrow and still have much to do.
Tomorrow is another special day....not only is it Thanksgiving and my Aunt Robin's birthday, but it is SASSY'S 1st birthday!!!!!!
Yep, our baby is 1. She has been such a blessing to our family, I can hardly let Thanksgiving go by without sharing how thankful I am for her!
Thank you for sharing my day with my Mom...I love her more than I can express.
Praying you have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day.

I was just going to leave a comment saying, "I love your mom!", but my daughter beat me to it! I'll echo her sentiment, though.

Despite your posting those, ahem, funny pics of your mom, she is beautiful, Bren. Her beauty shines right on through!

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

It surely must have hurt for her to turn into her evil twin and actually tell you to shut up LOL. I hope the procedure helped her though.

I agree, pizza restaurants do stink but I must admit I do LOVE pizza.

Have a lovely Thanksgiving, I know there will be much laughter at your home today :0)

Aww! Your mom is so sweet!
I will be praying for Kyle most definately!

My mom is in the hospital having tests run. They put her in Wednesday afternoon because her left side of her heart is enlarged. They were only supposed to keep her overnight...now she won't get out until maybe Friday!

We have to postpone Thanksgiving until Saturday. So if you could please pray for her. They did some tests already and ruled out lung clots and pneumonia (she wasn't even sick!) so that is good.

Happy birthday dear Sassy! I wish I could give you and your moma and miss sassy and your dd and kyle a hug for thanksgiving! But here is a cyber hug!.....

Bren, sounds like you had a good day with your mom (even if she did turn on you LOL). I hope the procedure she had done, will help her. A belated happy birthday to your Sassy. It is funny how attached you get to them, isn't it? First thing I do when I get up is check to be sure all my babies are ok. (grin) Our Thanksgiving was quiet, but very nice. We are getting kind of tired of leftovers, so I think I will freeze the rest of the turkey tomorrow. Have a wonderful Sunday, my dear.
