The desk in the eating area was filled with clutter. I took all my cookbooks down and cleared off the desk top and it made a much nicer presentation.
Awwwwww. Look at Sassy's baby picture!!!!
Do you have a junk drawer? I have a couple, but I also have a junk cabinet. UGH!!! It collects EVERYTHING!! If someone is looking for a lost something, the answer is always the same...."Look above the desk." Here is the before picture.......
UGH!!! The horror of it all!!!!!!
Here is the after shot........
Ok, so ya wanna know what I found??? Remember last Christmas when I could not find our 1979 "First Christmas Together" ornament? I cried for days. It is in that polka dot bag!! Next Christmas when I am going crazy cause it is still missing, remind me where it is, will ya? Also, I found a little gift I bought for Emerson in Arthur last year!!! Many other treasures were found and the kids all crowded around with lots of "Hey! I was looking for that!" and "Ooooooo, I forgot all about that!"
Once the kitchen and desk area was done, I was toast! I did not want to do any more....still I pushed on and did the rugs and hardwood floor. Sassy watched from a chair all the while and when I wasn't looking she would sneak down and put her paw prints in my wet flooring.
By the way, the Lavender Pine Sol worked wonders on my entire kitchen and my hard wood floors (It says it is safe for wood, and it is). Next I moved onto the family room. Charlotte organized the library books, which were a mess. She did a nice job. I dusted, vacuumed, and cleaned all the wall art and decorations. These sconces gave me fits! They are sharp and were full of dust!
Ceiling fans and light fixtures also got a good cleaning. Kyle was here to bring in the ladder, which was good, because I was very sore and tired by this point. *sigh* It stinks to get old!
So that is were I stopped yesterday. Today I started all over again in the front of the main floor. Along with laundry and my normal dailies, I did a deep clean on the "Old Lady Room", as Sweetheart calls it.
It does look like it would be a room where an old lady would live.....hmmmmmm I think it is waiting for me!!!!

I also deep cleaned the dining room.
The entryway had already been done yesterday except for the cabinet that is there. I wanted something different. I forgot to take a before pic, so I grabbed an older one to remind you what was there.
That doesn't look bad at all, but along the way, more pictures and "stuff" got added and it looked very cluttered. Not to mention that birdhouse started "shedding" leaves and twigs. I decided to put it in storage and this is what I was left with....
YUK!!! Look at this filth left behind!
I cleaned it all up and took some pictures away, added a lamp and viola!!!
Something different and not so cluttered.
Now, I am DONE! Dinner is cooking and the laundry is just finishing up. Hand quilting is calling my name!!!!

ugh...my house looks like all your before photos...
I need to do something about that tomorrow...you have given me the strength...
Great job! You´ve got a pretty home. Enjoy it and be happy. Whenever I´m condemned to household chores I think I´m happy to have a home to take care of.
Great job, Bren! I got tired just reading it! You have a wonderful kitchen; I love it when people take what they have and make it look beautiful. I fell into the trap of looking at all the new stuff on people's blogs and got a bad case of envy and discontent. Not pretty in a woman trying to be a woman after God's own heart! You always inspire me to do better with my homemaking.
You put me to shame. I've not felt good for so long, my house is beginning to suffer from it. I would try to get as much stuff done in the mornings before the pain got bad, but things still piled up.
PLEASE come to my house! My whole office looks like that one cabinet...and sadly the last 3 days I've just not cleaned it up...I've taken 2 naps, cooked 3 meals run one errand and read today...making a baby is tiring! I'm toast!
Well done!!
Your home looks great, Bren! Good job. Winona
I love it when I am strong enough to get mine clean too. It is more like a balloon One room gets a good detailing and the other part of the house gets behind.
Never have enough air to fill it (the balloon) all up at once.
Bren~ You sure have been busy, now when did you say your plane gets in here in CA to come and clean my house?? Just kidding, but my home sure could use a good old heavy duty cleaning. Maybe this coming week I could possibly find time to do a least a little bit everyday : )
Blessings,Joann
Woo Hoo!! Your house looks wonderful!!! So clean but still so pretty and inviting!! You are my hero!
Oh I know it's HARD work but isn't that wonderful fanstastic feeling after it's all done and gleaming worth it???? I love that feeling :) although I do make Rob admire all my hard work as well :)
GREAT JOB Bren!!! All looks beautiful!
Wanna come do my house next? It's a really small house LOL. You are inspiring me to get some deep cleaning done!!
Crispy
So...could I borrow some of that energy, or better yet... could you come out and clean my kitchen (I'll ignore the rest of the house if you clean my kitchen! vbg). I bet it's a nice feeling to have all that work done. Good job!
Your home is absolutely beautiful!!! I was just praying in church today for God to give me the motivation and strength to clean my home! Thanks for giving me the push that I need...I guess you are my motivation :)

ps...even though you said your kitchen looks like an early 90's one, I think when you keep things as nice as you do, you are happy and content and that's something that God is pleased with!!! Blessings :)
Whew! I sure feel better now... after you got all that work done! LOL!!!
Seriously, I know it feels so great to have it ALL clean, especially after a bout of sickness goes through!
You did great, girlie! You should consider that housecleaning marathon the beginning of your new exercise regime! Because I know you worked some pounds off doing all that stuff! Good job and great work! :):):):)
