Things I Don't Say

I have seen this on a couple of blogs...namely Crispy and Debi, and the blog that started it all, Stitched In Color. So what are some of the things I don't say...

QUILT RELATED:

I am a fabric snob...ok I have said that before, but never to the degree of it's reality. I will not use cheap fabrics. I don't like Walmart fabrics, Joann's, or even Hobby Lobby. I have used them in baby quilts and table runners, but for my main quilts it is ONLY quilt shop fabric.

I dislike novelty prints.

I hate batiks...really hate them.

I am not fond of modern quilts. I can admire them, but have no desire to make one.

Machine quilting....again no desire.

BLOG AND SOCIAL NETWORK RELATED:
I "hide" my facebook friends (and family) who swear, are mean, or on such a soapbox for their own "faith" that they come off unloving.

I do most of my blog reading in my reader...hence the few comments I leave.

I play NO facebook games....farmville, zoo-something, or any other game is not on my schedule.

I am a blog lurker on several blogs and have never "introduced" myself, and I like it that way.

I lose 1-2 followers every time I do a post about Jesus. When I put the "He Died For You" button on my sidebar I lost 3.

I am not concerned with how many followers I have.

I won't enter giveaways with hoops to jump through.

I do not read any RAD blogs....I gave that up long ago. There is one I read once a week to catch up, as she is a friend, but I don't even read her blog daily. This is to protect my thinking.

PERSONAL:

I struggle with anxiety issues since adopting Charlotte, though I am working hard to overcome it.

I still secretly want to smoke cigarettes...but I don't...but I really want to.

I am addicted to sugar.

I am extremely conservative (which has not always been the case)...to the point that I am more conservative than Biblically required. Some have called me legalistic....I don't see this, because a legalistic person requires others to be the same, and I don't.

I personally believe the King James Bible to be the true Word of God, and do not use other versions....AGAIN, not something I require of others.

I am terrible at math, though I have a friend who calls me for mathematically quilt related questions...though when I have a question I call a different friend! How I can figure out a friend's math problem, but not my own is a mystery.

I am madly in love with my cat....she is like one of my kids. Seriously. That is warped.

So there are some of the things I don't say, or talk about. I bet you could do a post just like this one....let me know if you do!!!

Great post! Even thought I don't agree with everything, you have a sweet spirit and I always enjoy reading your posts.

By the way, I have an aunt who is 92 (I think), quit smoking many years ago and told me she loved the taste of tobacco, so I'm sure she still misses it. I don't have that love, but have the same love with chocolate - ha!

I enjoyed your post today. I may not agree with everything but then that's where we agree to disagree :) I gave up smoking 30 years ago - can't stand the smell of it now but every once in a great while I think - a cigerette sure would be nice....but then I think of the price of them now and that stops me dead in my tracks.

Good for you for losing followers. Seriously. Taking a stand is more important any old day. I found it interesting to compare/contrast you and I. Lets see...
I like to shop at Hobby Lobby and support them because it is Christian owned and the owner has taken a lot of flack from pears for not opening on Sundays. But, I do love expensive fabric too.
I like some novelty, but rarely. I don't use them much.
I used to like batik, and I've been selling them off on ebay lately.
I don't like modern quilts either.
I do machine quilt. It's a hand thing.
I do the same to my fb friends. And I can't stand it when they flaunt their 'faith' all the time as a show...then turn around and talk about watching movies like Twilight or something. If someone is going to quote scripture all the time, then live it too!
I read in reader too. I pop out often for comments to people who comment to me. I don't have any friends outside of the internet really so my blog connections are important to me.
I play no online games at all. I loved pogo when I was pregnant and bed bound, but haven't touched it since Stephen was born.
Giveaways that require you to post about them make me angry. Mostly I don't even enter giveaways anymore. I've plenty of fabric. But I do for charm packs and jelly rolls and such. I don't get much chance to buy that kind of fabric.
I am addicted to sugar too. I try so hard. It really can be an addiction problem more than people think!
We are extremely conservative too. We just had to leave yet ANOTHER church because of it. And no, not legalistic. We just follow the Bible. period.
We don't do King James, and are actually anti King James. LOL.(don't hate me!) We are very strong NASB.
I hate cats. But I love dogs.

A couple of other things about me...I hate conflict. I'll run from it!!

My computer goes off Saturday night and I refuse to look at it again until Monday morning.

Enjoyed your post...have a great weekend!

I love these posts. I find more and more that I am a fabric snob too. The only time I will buy low quality fabrics is if I'm making my kids something that isn't clothing. They like the novelty prints and I know it doesn't need to last long so I'll use it but I cringe every time. Especially at the raveling or how thin they are.

It recently became an issue. I have a friend who requested I make her something. She really wanted me to use cheap fabrics but I insisted that I wouldn't (I only charge her cost). Every day since I purchased the fabric she has made little comments about it. I've already decided that I will not be making her anything in the future. I refuse to put in all of my time and energy into making something that isn't quality.

Oh Bren--we have different tastes in fabric! I love batiks and novelties. Can we still be dorky twins? I'm right there with you on most of your other points, except I don't do any social networking stuff. No facebook for me at all.

Good for you, Bren! Loved reading this because it lets me get to know you better. Have a wonderful Mother's Day! And I agree. You are not a legalist unless you require the same standard of others. These are your convictions. Those are personal.

This is such a great post Bren!! I wish I had taken mine further :0)

That's what I love about you, you stick by your convictions but don't force them on others :0)

Love Ya Girl Friend,
