It's a Quilt

The Hidden Star is finished. Can you find the hidden star? I have it laid out so it is easier for you to see it....it was not the "star" you thought it was. ;) It has even been washed and dried to give it that crinkle effect. I am very surprised by how much I like this quilt. It was a booger to get through, but the end result is wonderful. I pray my son is as happy with it. The back even shows the dense quilting.
That's a lotta stitches!!!!
Quilting on the sailboats came to a grinding halt when I had an "Oh Crap" moment earlier today. While quilting the waves I saw something.....here is the stencil as drawn out on the quilt.

Looks ok, eh? Well as I was turning the quilt, I saw the waves from this angle.....Uh oh. Did I put those waves on upside down? It looked that way to me. It was too late, as 3 of the 12 are already hand quilted! I went back and looked at the stencil and saw the sticker with the directions....they show this..........which is exactly as I am quilting them. Whew! I have a feeling it is a dual stencil. One way for gentle waves and the other for torrential spiky waves. I am glad I caught the gentle ones!!!! The quilting continued on and all is well!
Sass is all laid out for her afternoon nap like the Queen of Sheba. She is sound asleep with her head up and her hind legs all sprawled out behind her. As long as I am sitting at the end of that couch, quilting, she is laying behind my head, purring in her sleep. Such a Mama's girl! She knows she better not touch that quilt again!
I had a wonderful time in my old home town yesterday. I was able to spend some time with Sue! I helped her baste part of a quilt. It was like old times. I just LOVE seeing her. I hugged her so tight, I did not want to let go! I will see her again in November.
Hoping for a quiet weekend. Life has a way of getting away from me, so I am not hanging on to that hope too tightly. I do have my quilting bee on Saturday, so that is always something to look forward to. Any hand quilter's in my area, come on down and join us!
Praying your weekend is enjoyable for you!

Bren~ Congrats on finishing the quilt, I am still waiting to bind my little banner thingy I just know that I will mess it up somehow. Will take pictures of the process as no one will believe me if I don't show that I did it :)

That is a masterpiece!
I was going to say I liked the way you did the waves better anyway before you said it was the right way.

Gorgeous, gorgeous quilt!!! Bravo to you for staying with the hand quilting and getting this quilt done. Done .... what a beautiful word!

When I looked at the wave quilting, until you mentioned it I thought that was the way the waves were to look. Unless someone has the stencil, no one will EVER know! :o) Sssh, don't be too hard on yourself.

Oh, Bren! Your quilt is just absolutely beautiful, gorgeous and amazing! I love it!

I'm glad the sailboat waves worked out! Don't you just hate those "uh-oh" moments? Bleah!

I pray you have a wonderful, peaceful weekend and have a great time at your quilting bee! If I lived there, you KNOW I'd be there!

Love, Julie

I can't find the hidden star. I glanced at the quilt, read the rest of the posting, got my eyes crossed while looking at that two way optical illusion stencil and then went back to study the quilt more LOL.

The quilt is absolutely gorgeous!!

Absolutely gorgeous quilt, Bren! I can't see the hidden star either, but I'm not quite sure what I'm looking for! LOL It sure is beautiful, though.

Have a great weekend! :)
