Flower Power

Thank you so much for all the wonderful comments on the Pink and Brown quilt. It was a peaceful sleep I had last night! With the hoop empty and nothing in my hands, I thought I would go crazy! I looked at my 2010 goals list (on my sidebar) and saw that I had the applique border for the Underground railroad quilt still unfinished. Now this has been on my "list" almost as long as the Pink and Brown. I prepped more base flowers and off I went.
I thought Sassy was partial to the Pink and Brown, but I found she really does not care what quilt it is....if it is a quilt and it is out, she will claim it!We had to battle over this one. She was not willing to give it up! We finally compromised and I was able to get some flowers appliqued while watching television last night. It is going to be a busy time until next week, so I am happy to have hand work for my evenings. I do not see being able to machine sew until after Easter. I am hosting Easter here again this year, though we are doing a cook out instead of a formal dinner. I am thrilled about that! TJ and Emerson will be here Friday night and go home Saturday night. Because of that, we will color eggs on Friday and have our hunt on Saturday morning. Next year they will be here Easter day. We were able to have TJ's 5th birthday party a couple of weeks ago.It was lots of fun and he had a great time. Much family and friends, wonderful food and cake and presents. What more could a 5 year old want?Little Emerson had fun too!!! She is such a beauty queen! She is losing that "baby look" and looking more like a little girl. I am anxious to see them. We had them 3 weekends in a row and now it has been a week and a half so it feels like forever. Just a few more days.....
My little guys have been working hard in school. Charlotte is doing exceptionally well this year. Much better than years past. Zach is doing great too, except on days he just does not want to do it at all. Those days are hard, but I always win and in the end so does he, because his school work got done! Today they had a nice surprise. Debi sent them new Spring time pillow cases. They are wonderful! Thank you so much, Debi!!!She also included a gift for me....some Gutermann threads (already in my thread case) and some charm squares from the Moda line "Ruby's Flower Garden".They are beautiful. I can't wait to use them. I am thinking they will find their way into some of my Libby Quilts.
That is all for today. It sure feels good to be back. We may need to celebrate....how about a giveaway? Sounds good to me. Come back soon and I'll see what I can do.
(No, I am not giving away Sassy!)

Blessings, Bren

Quilts always seem to be cat magnets LOL.

I know what you mean about Emerson looking more like a little girl than a baby, noticed the same thing in recent pictures of Saige.

Love your new blog!! You know I love your Pink & Brown. It looks just beautiful and it's beautiful in your bedroom. What an absolute treasure you created!

Your Sassy is so cute! She sure loves your quilts. The perfect companion for you.

Your grandchildren are adorable and I'm so glad you're getting to spend time with them.

Take care, dear Bren, and have a wonderful and blessed Easter!!

Love, Julie

Sassy sure looks comfy on the quilt, don't know what it is about cats and quilts. Glad the birthday party was a great success.

We're changing our tradition a bit this year too. We've always had potato salad, slaw, Baked Beans, Ham, Rolls and dessert. This year Daughter and I are both dieting and decided we'd rather go out than eat at home so we wouldn't have all those temping dishes leftover. I'm not sure what we'll eat but it should be about the meaning of the day and the time together, anyway, not the food.
The children will hunt eggs on Sunday afternoon if they haven't gotten tired of it by then. They start hiding and hunting as soon as the plastic eggs come out of storage. I'm not sure if we'll get together to color real ones this year. I may do a few by myself. I put together Easter baskets for them. I have to photograph them before I give them to them.
Oh, Thomas the Tank was a favorite of Wonder Boy's when he was younger.

Bren, happy belated birthday to TJ. I noticed the same thing about Izabella. She is no longer a baby, but a little girl (who thinks she rules the roost LOL). Charlotte and Zach look like they are enjoying their pillowcases. That was sweet of Debi! No better gift for a quilter than thread and fabric. (grin) I am loving your border on this quilt. Just lovely and looks like lots of fun. Winona
