Easter Preparations

It is one of my favorite weeks!! Easter week. The celebration of His resurrection! If you have been reading here for a while, you know I have had a struggle finding a church home. I all but gave up for quite a while there. Well last Sunday we visited a new church. My friend Alesha referred me, as her pastor spoke here recently...I think that was how it went, or the pastor here spoke there...anyway, I have driven past this church a million times...it is less than a mile from my house, but a friend from Florida had to tell me about it! The kids and I enjoyed it and plan to go back on Easter Sunday.

I pressed clothes for the occasion, and got everyone's Easter dud's all ready.

Funny, Kyle's pant had a tag that said, "Wrinkle Resistant"...uh, huh...yeah, I don't think so. Ironing is not my favorite thing to do, but the crisp clothing is a nice payoff. Some of my time this week was spent couponing. Also, not a favorite thing, and I do not spend hours doing it, but I do clip some, and was able to save about 18 dollars total in those clipped coupons. Another $32 using my Kroger card and I did not do too badlyLots of packages arrived in the mail over the last week. Books for the new curriculum we are trying out with Charlotte. That will be another post..... And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,
And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre.
And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?
He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee,
Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
And they remembered his word.

Have a Blessed Holy Day!

I had to laugh at you not liking to iron clothes, not my favorite thing either but could spend hours ironing fabric LOL.

Love your posts, Bren. Pondering what Jesus did for me this time of year is so special...I go through a mix of emotions as I read the accounts of all He endured.

I was just wondering if you had heard of "Resurrection Eggs"? I made a homemade set (one empty egg carton, 12 plastic eggs numbered 1-12, and I filled each one with a small specific item mentioned in 12 correlating Bible verses that tell the Story of Jesus' Resurrection. I saw it on a few blogs, and it was so easy to make! Just wanted to mention it. Here is one of my bloggy friends that did it:

Anyway, glad you found a church that feels like home! We found one fairly close to us that we are so thankful for.

Blessings to your sweet family this Easter,
Katie

Such a beautiful post, Bren. It's so good to read the Story again. And what a verse, "And they remembered his word."

Lord, help me to do the same!

Love you, my friend,
Alesha
